INSPIRED BuY...the new year

the start of the new year is a great time to reflect on the previous year and plan for the future.  sometimes it's nice to start fresh- make a new workout schedule, figure out what you want to accomplish in your career, and perhaps update your look (this is what i'll focus on in my post).

a great way to start updating your look is by updating your basics.

everyone has their wardrobe staples- a white buttondown, black pants, a great pair of jeans, and that piece of jewelry that goes with everything.

as trends change, these basics also change: think back 8 years when your "go-to" jeans were those medium wash 7 for all mankind bootcut jeans.  now you won't go anywhere without your dark skinnies that have the perfect amount of stretch.  in the photos below you can see how to update your basics for 2011.

also, a little sidenote:  this is a great time to buy a new winter coat.  you'll be wearing it for the next two months and then all next year, plus they're all on sale!  I just picked up this one from Brooklyn Industries..it's super warm, and the asymmetrical cut is a great way to make a puffy black coat unique.
