FNO

the 3rd annual Fashion's Night Out kicked off this season's new york fashion week.  i've participated in FNO each year, and i think this time i had the best approach: instead of hitting up the department store where all the celebs were hanging or following the cool kids to the fancy carnival party at the hippest boutique, i decided to go the music route.  i checked free williamsburg for a list of all bands performing that night, and decided to see Justin Townes Earle at Partners & Spade (who collaborated with Warby Parker, a favorite of mine, for the event which honored Buddy Holly).  the studio was fairly small and was filled with brooklynites clad in hip clothing and oversized dark-framed glasses.  they served cocktails & cake, showcased the latest styles in the Warby Parker eyewear collection, and JTE played a full set of folk-y tunes for our entertainment- not too shabby.
